For tips on where to ride in Geilo and the rest of Hallingdal, please take a look at the Trail Guide for Hallingdal, created by local bike enthusiasts.
You can bike on paths and trails in the outfield, leading to outlying areas and everywhere in the mountains. However, biking is forbidden in Hallingskarvet National Park, and in Hardangervidda National Park biking is permitted only in Tinnhøl road and approved tractor trails.
“This is a review of our two day stay in Geilo during the summer. Obviously, this is a fairly busy place in the winter but it is nice and quiet in the summer and the perfect rest over during our packed tour of Norway. We particularly liked the walk around the local fjord which is on a really good tarmac bicycle path (very few cyclists) close to the beautiful fjord. Loads of wild flowers and plants in the verges and a few birds and butterflies for us to photograph. Highly recommended.”
