Take me fishing at Geilo

Nothing tastes better than your own self-caught, newly fried mountain trout? Chances are good you get a catch. You can choose between 90 fishing waters and river stretches, located from 446 to 1523 msl.

There are plenty of fishing spots; from small idyllic ponds to big, open mountain lakes, as well as good stretches for fly fishers to the Hols-river at the bottom of the municipality. Most of the waters have a big trout stock, in some of them you even find char. The sizes of the fish lies in between 100-1000 gram, but every year a number of fish up to 3 kg. are caught.

Fishing is a great activity where the little ones in the family can learn to appreciate nature. Remember that fishing for children and young people under the age of 16 is free. Further information about fishing can be obtained by contacting Geilo Tourist Information or eller to the sports shops in Geilo center. The hiking maps, Geilo and Hallingskarvet, show the fishing areas.
